Thursday 10th April - 7.42pm
Firstly I have enjoyed the trainings & practices that we have had this week – attendance is up & people are making the effort to improve their level of commitment & performance. Over the next 10 days we will see if the past six months have been good preparation as we take on John Paul this weekend & McLean’s College the following week. These games will be used to play all players and I would like to see all players play in more than one position during these games.
Winning is important – but not a priority as we will be looking to see us develop as a team. Hopefully, this will set us up in a style of rugby that we can all enjoy playing & watching. If winning comes from it then it will be a bonus.
House keeping
1. John Paul game – Saturday 12th April – 11.00am Kick off Bethlehem College
The following people have volunteered to help with
a. After match function, Michele & David Berry, Janice Marsters- Need people to help with preparing & organising food – cooking BBQ sausages.
b. Setting up fields & clearing fields – posts & sideline ropes
We are catering for 4 rugby teams – 80- 100 people plus we need more help.
2. Billets – for McLean’s College – we need to billet 28 players so far we have
Only 4 billets so far????? 2 coaches are with me
We need to find beds for 24 other players?
As stated earlier in the week to all players if you can’t find a billet find someone who can take a billet for you.
3. Calendar money – sorry this sounds like a broken horn – But we need this money in now.
4. Uniforms – Through The Lakes Tauranga sponsorship boys will each receive a Training T/shirt which they can keep & the use of a team bag to carry gear to games & practice.
Team Polo shirt – I have ordered new polo shirts for players who are new to the squad and this will cost $28. Secondly I have also ordered suit covers for all players $10 each – I am looking for a sponsor $350. If not it will cost players $10 each.
5. Food for the weekend – All players from this weekend will be invoiced $5.00 each. This money will be used to buy finger food, drink & BBQ sausages. In the past I have found this the easiest way to organise food and hopefully this will be our standard practice for weekend games.
Saturday game – organisation of players
9.15am Take gear to Event Centre HE2 (tracksuit & Polo shirt)
Red squad to set up HE1 for after match function
Blue squad to help with organising field & directing traffic
9. 45am All Squad members to go to Event centre to get changed
10.00am Individual warm up in Event Centre – need sports shoes
10.15am Jog down to field
10.30am Team warm up (Blue shorts & red/blue hooped socks)
11.00am Game
12.30pm Changed & After match function (Tracksuit & polo shirt)
1.15pm Clean up health rooms & changing rooms.
I will have a form to complete in Newsletters that you can use to answer some of the above requests or you may wish to email me direct or leave a comment on the blog. This is a paper trail that we have to follow if we are asking parents to pay money for anything & we then can present it to the accounts office so that you can be invoiced.
Yours in Christ service
